Fiddle Jam – the Way-Cool EZ Way
“A breakthrough method!”
“Life changing stuff!”
Take a walk on the wild side of the violin/fiddle worlds! Learn the art of improvisation as it applies to the violin, viola, cello and even mandolin, in the modern “non-classical” styles, using the Fiddle Jam Method by Geoffrey Fitzhugh Perry!
EZ “just jam along and you can’t go wrong” approach is the simplest way to get you and/or your students introduced to the exciting world of improvisation!
Jam along to jazz, blues, rock, cajun, funk and other hybrid musics.
Fiddle Jam features a unique approach that uses two-string symmetrical fingering blocks called “EZ-Zones” to encourage the new improviser into a non-thinking, more creative state earlier in their development.”
The concept behind Fiddle Jam is simple: thinking too much, generally makes improvisation sound worse! This method gently cracks open the “door” for you to get started in a musical world from which countless other “doors” of styles and performing opportunities can open!
The classical-only approach can NOT give you that!
No memorization of transcribed licks and tricks*, no music reading needed** … Just JAMMING!
*Note: a follow-up book of that sort of cool “vocabulary oriented” stuff is coming soon though! Stay tuned for “Fiddle Jam A-Toodz”.
**Note: well… just a little in the last two lessons where we put it all together, but even then, it’s presented in a way that non-readers can still do it too!
The Fiddle Jam Method was formulated in such a way as to include the typical beginning player who knows their first three open string-based major scales (G, D, & A for violin), but also so that the professional symphony player, who wants to get introduced to the modern “hip” styles can learn to loosen up and get away from the page too.
This “music from the inside out” approach is the one of the best ways to get the most JOY out of your mus-ic making! …and, interestingly, we’ve found, can even help you play your classical pieces with more authority too!
A “low impact,” very light-hearted and fun approach with lots of positive encouragement is the vibe for all Fiddle Jam products which include:
- The Fiddle Jam Book/CD: distributed world-wide by the Hal Leonard Corp.
- Fiddle Jam Clinics: let Geoff take over your school Orchestra for a day!
- Private web cam Fiddle Jam lessons: learn from the master himself!
- Compositions for string orchestra: that include improvisation of course!
- The new “Fiddle Jam Institute” video lesson library: expected to launch in the Fall of 2009.
- And, a retail branch to follow, called Outlaw Fiddle: featuring crazy painted cases and violins, electric violin products, and other alternative string accessories… all the cool stuff to excite and unite string players!
